Serena Williams tweeted a photo of herself and then was forced to remove it soon after due to harsh criticism. Her fans wondered why she would set her self up for what she knew would be a crazy response.

If you don’t want drama why would you feed into your publics fire? #SERIOUSLY!!!

I was reading the article below this morning and apparently I made the right choice to not take the train to Union square late night this past friday. As a female i am always with my guards up…especially with the creepy people that linger in areas like union square at night, and or on subway. It doesn’t matter how much you THINK you can handle getting around in NYC you should always take precaution.

Read below to hear about the methadone addicts that have scattered among union square park creating havoc (article via nypost website)-JDM:

Welcome to Methadone Alley!

Addicts flocking to the drug clinics that surround Union Square Park have created a “lawless city within a city” where they’ve been overdosing on drugs and committing crimes ranging from stabbings to exposing themselves, sources told The Post

Spurred by community outrage, the NYPD is stepping up patrols and the private partnership that helps run the park is hiring off duty officers.

The problem centers around what locals call Methadone Alley, a bench-lined path along Union Square East.

The section is named after its inhabitants who spill into the park after visiting the outpatient drug treatment clinics where they get their methadone fixes, said a law-enforcement source said.

'IT'S A HORROR SHOW': A man dozes and drools on a bench in Union Square Park as a pair of local residents do their best to ignore him.

‘IT’S A HORROR SHOW’: A man dozes and drools on a bench in Union Square Park as a pair of local residents do their best to ignore him.

“The public is not safe. It’s a lawless city within a city,” said Geoffrey Croft of New York City Park Advocates.

“It’s a horror show that’s been going on far too long.”

Preschool teacher Jenn Murphy, 29, said the park has gotten so bad, she now hesitates to bring her kids.

“It’s a little shady at times,” said Murphy, complaining about low-lifes who hang out near the playground.

“The language they use . . . and sometimes they try to talk to the kids.”

Cops have made at least 84 drug-related arrests in and around the park this year. Some recent frightening incidents have included:

* A 28-year-old man was attacked and stabbed three times in the back by a knife-wielding 50-year-old man screaming racial slurs on April 22. The victim survived and the attack is being investigated as a possible hate crime.

* Cops busted an accused perv exposing himself in a woman’s bathroom on May 8.

* A woman in her 30s was found unconscious and not breathing near East 16th Street after suffering an overdose on March 19, according to a law-enforcement source.

* A 13-year-old boy’s iPad was stolen out of his backpack.

* A 56-year-old man was busted in the park last Wednesday after cops caught him with more than two ounces of marijuana and magic mushrooms.

Parkgoers say the clean-up efforts are way overdue.

“This is horrendous,” said a 36-year-old woman sitting on a bench at the dog run with her pooch.

“All the drug addicts. There is a general rowdiness. You feel unsafe, especially when it gets dark out,” she said.

But she also vowed she wouldn’t be driven out of the park.

“It’s New York,” she said. “You deal with it.”

This is ridiculous…here’s todays “seriously”!

According to CNN:

A Radio Shack owner in Montana has upped foot traffic at his Hamilton store by offering free guns for new satellite television subscribers, according to a local paper.

Fear not, those opposed to gun ownership and those who might fail background checks. You can have free pizza instead.

The sign says it all: “Protect yourself with Dish Network. Sign up now. Get free gun.” (The real marquee has no periods, so I took a little punctuative license.)

Owner Steve Strand told the Ravalli Republic that the promotion “really, really fits the Bitterroot Valley,” while manager Fabian Levy told the newspaper that the gimmick had “been really successful.”

Strand said the promotion, which began in October, has tripled his business and lured hundreds of people curious about the sign. Only one person who “didn’t understand how it works” has reacted negatively, he said.

“We have people literally stop in to take pictures of the sign,” Levy added.

Simply sign a contract, purchase certain equipment, set up an installation date and congratulations! You could be the proud owner of a Hi-Point .380-caliber handgun or a 20-gauge shotgun from Frontier Guns & Ammo, which is just north of town.

If you don’t want a gat or can’t pass the background check (which the Republic reports is also free with the satellite TV subscription), you can still have a $50 Pizza Hut gift card.

Strand told the newspaper that other Radio Shack owners in the state were too scared to follow his lead. Even Dish Network had its doubts but agreed to the idea after months of talks with Strand, the newspaper said.

“They’ve never had a gun promotion before, so they’re a little nervous about it,” Strand said. “It’s been an uphill battle with Dish.”

“This is my new image. You can expect the unexpected. I feel comfortable with black people lightening their skin. They want a different look. It’s tantamount to white people getting a sun tan,” Kartel told Vibe Magazine.

First of all I was already upset when Sammy Sosa did it, Michael Jackson did it, and a few take on this is that white people tan in the sun crossing the street it happens naturally..dark complexion people dont just lighten up in the winter so NO its not the same thing. As for material tans-thats what I will call them (sun tan stores, and booths) that damages your skin…so obviously dont you think bleach damages and has side effects as well.

Peep the side effects of tanning:

A tan, whether you get it on the beach, in a bed, or through incidental exposure, is bad news, any way you acquire it. Tans are caused by harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or tanning lamps, and if you have one, you’ve sustained skin cell damage. No matter what you may hear at tanning salons, the cumulative damage caused by UV radiation can lead to premature skin aging (wrinkles, lax skin, brown spots, and more), as well as skin cancer.

Now the side effects of Bleaching:

Hydroquinone is the only skin bleaching chemical recognized by the FDA. Skin bleaching creams may have different percentages of Hydroquinone in their compound, but any skin bleaching cream with over 2% may cause side effects. The most common side effect of skin bleaching is skin irritation and a burning sensation. The itching or stinging of the skin should be mild and temporary, with some reddening of skin where cream is applied. Other side effects when severe include crusting and discoloration and more..

SO ALL OF THESE FOOLIOS NEED TO WAKE UP!! We were born a certain way, and when you alter your body to appease others or yourself..there is always a chance at making it worse. Food for thought!

Winter Cuffing Vs. Spring Flings

“Winter Cuffing Vs. Spring Flings”
By Jackie da Model

So it has come to my attention that people tend to get together for the long term during the winter, and have casual flings in the spring time. I asked a few different people their opinions on this observation. We all know that the Winter is too cold to be outdoors and guys are too lazy to run around “having fun” in less than 20 degrees. Spring is a time where everyone is enjoying the weather and also activities outdoors and therefore have more of a chance to meet people consistently and date or decide if they want to just “chill”.

Weighing the pro’s and con’s of winter dating and spring dating have led me to the conclusion that making excuses for wanting to commit or run wild tend to come from those who are unsure of themselves. If you can’t trust yourself to behave in nice weather what makes you think you will in the cold?.  If you want to be with someone exclusively it doesn’t matter the weather, it matters who that person is and what they can offer you. Do they complete you?, Do they understand you?, Can they keep you satisfied? Those should be the ideal reasons, not “I want to stay in and cuddle because its cold so I need a cuddle buddy” or “Lets go speed dating in the spring”.

That’s the equivalent of the date you bring everywhere vs. the indoor boo. The date you bring everywhere may have won the respect and the honor of meeting friends and family. The indoor boo is most likely only good for sex or companionship. NUFF SAID! Get it together ladies and gents!!!

“Never make someone your priority when you are only their option”-anonymous quote

I have lived and learned and at this time I can honestly say that Love is unexpected, so let’s not search in the hot chocolate aisle at the bodega ….if your meant to be you will meet that person at the time best for both of you.

Stay Focused!!

Starbucks or Starf*ckd

a RANT from an upset New Yorker

also known as JDM

Oct 23rd 2010

I just have to share my recent gripes with you my friends! I think today was the 4th time in one week that I attempted to set a business lunch / meeting at a Starbucks for their great Coffee and well as WiFi usage while I eat/drink.

Normally I am very pleased with their service…but lately it has been extremely difficult to get a coffee in less than 20 minutes (that’s a long time in java world to wait for a cup of coffee!) and or a seat in the place. It used to be refreshing to walk in and smell the aroma of flavored coffee drinks and in 5 minutes be sitting comfortably enjoying my beverage of choice. Now it’s like playing hide and go seek.. alone!

The first occasion was the attempt close to home..the location by me fits all but 30 people in there ..standing .. and accomodates about 10 people who choose to sit and stay. I passed by and the people in there were occupying the WiFi and Seating, but weren’t even drinking coffee or eating anything so they basically were in there taking up space. That was the day I found out that Brooklyn (around my area) had nearly NO WiFi Cafe spots. I had to walk about 15 blocks out of my way to Dunkin Donuts the competitor!

Next time around was today, I go to Starbucks in Union Square inside of Barnes and Noble and there wasn’t one seat open. The line was halfway out to the book aisles. I leave and visit the Starbucks on 17th Street corner, again there was a massive line and very few seats available…HOWEVER.. I was in for a rude awakening. Seats don’t mean a goddamn thing unless there is an outlet to plug in your laptop!

I checked every crevice of that starbucks and there had to be one wall with outlets and on that wall 4 tables the size of end tables and 3 outlets on the wall. Of course the people sitting on that side were NOT sing laptops and were utterly offended when asked to switch places. So now ..being that I have anger management I take a walk to the Starbucks on the west side on 8th avenue and 16th and again no seats and people with no purchases taking up space.

I have come to the conclusion that no one pays for their own WiFi at home because they all sit in their Local Starbucks.

Either Starbucks is selling stuff that’s illegal in the US creating what looks like a line for cheese in the 80’s or people are that broke that they need the FREE WiFi and abuse the privilege making it rough for others to utilize all the perks of Starbucks. Whatever it is needs to be fixed… or people will get tired of that and become fans of the “next door coffee spots”

Jammed Till September

This picture is from the crazy traffic jam out in North China (Beijing) due to road construction!!! People have been in traffic for 10 days as of August 24th.  It is expected to go on until mid-September at the rate they are moving (Less than half a mile a day). Construction is expected to finish by Sept 17th at the moment it is restricting vehicles in a 60 mile stretch, as well as inbound traffic. THIS IS INSANE! The population in China grows rapidly therefore so does the traffic volume.

The way this is going I’m sure people in China will have a reality show soon like “The Road” or “Outdoors with China”. What happens when they need to take care of bodily needs (P or Poop) etc.. what are they eating to survive, what if they run out of gas, what are they doing to avoid boredom?..dancing on side of road?..pattycake?.. WHAT!! ..

I CANT IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING HERE IN NYC!!! If this happened in NY we’d be fine because theres a corner store on every block! If we got stuck on a highway we could walk off into society lol.. back to the subject at hand.. Thats one crazy Jam.. I hope none of those people are sick, pregnant, or getting fired for not going to work..that would suck!.. Most importantly…where is the world guiness book of records at?

So while we bitch about waiting too long for transit or being stuck in traffic here in NY we should look at this story and say “It could always be worse”

No-Fair Job Fair and Social Network Foolery

This is the story of an unfortunate event and a lesson on avoiding social networking drama. As I read my daily tweets, emails, and informative notifications from friends I came across a text blast for a job fair. Being the thoughtful person I am, I sent it to a friend that is currently struggling looking for employment. I even hooked up her resume!

Later that day I call to ask her about the job fair, she told me it never existed. I was mortified!! The site of Job Fair was at Brooklyn College. The source of posting was the Fox 5 News website.

“Excuse me where is the Job Fair that was advertised for Brooklyn College Location” she asked a security guard. “What Job Fair?, Why does everyone keep asking me about a Job Fair, there is nothing going on here today” He whined annoyed that she was not the first and most likely not the last to ask him that on his shift!

I bet he couldn’t wait to leave his post. Anyway the moral of the story is any “Blast” you get on Blackberry Messenger, Twitter, and or other social networks should be thoroughly referenced and even if a News Station with a good reputation in society posts a blog, you should probably call before heading out the house. Save the time, energy, and money before taking a chance. That was a No fair Job Fair!!!

I looked it up, and what happened was they made a posting they then edited the blog and changed it to Tuesday August 24th without keeping the misinformation from August 23rd post and clarifying there was a change in schedule. So that means there was an angry mob yesterday and minimal outcome today due to mis-communication.

Examples of boredom and annoyance on social network blasts all over the world.

“Please read this now (insert cheesy blast here), if you dont fwd to all your friends your phone will erase all of your contacts”

“God said to tell you that (insert motivational, or passive aggressive saying) and you must fwd this or something bad/good will/wont happen to you”..

“Select from 1-10 ( list of idiotic and immature choices on what you feel toward the sender) and then re post to see what ppl think of you” (1. cute, 2. sexy, 3. relationship material, 4. one night stand, 5. ugly as hell.. etc… lol )

“Whos up” (written at 4am…obviously YOU are if you blasting this..some of us like to sleep!)

SERIOUSLY??????… First of all God doesnt do email, twitter, or BBM…and he is not going to condemn me for sending you to spam folder. Second of all if God is messaging you its time to re evaluate your sanity.

Examples of attempts at helpful / resourceful messaging:

“Hey everyone please see list of Phone numbers for city jobs and pass along to whomever is in need..”

“Amber alert for (insert description) ….” <—(sometimes these are blown outta proportion but most times they work and help save lives.

Now that you get the idea.. if you have a blackberry you now have a heads up on the BBM Blast app and who to avoid!! lol.. if you read your email blasts or use social networks.. keep your eyes open and ears peeled ..don’t jump to conclusions before researching.

Good ways to avoid email spam are:

ON EMAIL: (Boxbe is the easy-to-use free service that organizes your inbox and eliminates your email Unlike built-in spam filters)

  • Verify people from robots
  • Avoid Twitter spam
  • Save time managing your followers

Well they havent developed anything yet, so best advice is to just be selective with accepting friends and if they send you any blasts that annoy you warn and delete!

If you are in the industry, you should maintain a personal page as well as an entertainment page to avoid spam. A lot of promoters tag us in flyers for events on FB .. my tactic is to write on comment field with a snippy reply on my Jackie mode!! example- “Hi this is Jackie’s page, i am not a bulletin board perhaps if you invite her directly she may go.” or my favorite ” This is my pay-pal email please submit deposit for my promotion or appearance at this venue, thank you in advance” They are bound to leave you alone!

I hope this was helpful … stay tuned.. for Jackie Speaks Radio Show beginning August 9th 8-10pm sharp est!

When i see this picture in the paper all of a sudden i thought: BONG GONE WRONG!!! and envisioned a mom in jail and her baby taken away and being raised by strangers due to her stupidity!

FACEBOOK the start to many a woe.. whether its a relationship squabble over a comment post, picture post, and or LIE to excuse the content or just a plain old embarrassing TAG in a photo. For some it is a personal site to share and communicate with relatives…and for others like teenage mom Rachel Stieringer in Florida it is a testament to her immaturity and entertainment for ignorant people part of Unfit Parents Association (just kidding that association doesnt exist but if it did shed be the CEO)..anyway.. Miss Rachel thought it would be funny to take a picture of her 11 month year old baby with a bong, and even funnier to post it on facebook for her friends to see. WHATS THE NUMBER TO ACS AGAIN!?…. heres the photo! (photo via new york post)

The mom was also arrested and let out on bail last month for possession of drugs.. the bail was $502 (weird amount but anyway…) Mom defended her actions by saying that she would never put her baby in danger, there was no tobacco in the pipe and she posted that pic to show “one f****g person” and it got blown out of proportion ..she whines that now everyone is bashing her for what she did.

well you know what .. if your baby gets arrested for selling and doing drugs when hes older im sure he will think its funny if he has your sense of humor THAT IS ALL!!

Baby killed in Central Park by Tree Branch

Central Park Tree Branch Falls, Kills 6-Month-Old Baby Girl

CENTRAL PARK —  The city is still trying to determine who is responsible for maintaining the trees in Central Park two days after a branch fell and killed a 6-month-old baby girl and critically injured her mother.

“This was a tragedy,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, the New York Post reported. “The limb was healthy and had leaves on it. Why it fell is under review.”

Six-month-old Gianna Ricciutti was killed Saturday by a large branch that fell from a tree onto her and her mother. Her father Mike Ricciutti, 41, of Union City, was snapping a picture of Gianna with her mother when the leafy green limb fell on them near the sea lion exhibit. Mother Karla DelGallo, 33, is in stable condition with a head injury at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell.

There is a debate on who is accountable for maintenance of the tree between the Central Park Conservancy, the organization that generally manages the park’s 26,000 trees, and the Wildlife Conservation Society, which is considered to be in charge of the maintenance and operation of the Central Park Zoo.

Neither organization has commented, other than to express condolences and say that investigations are underway.

The conservancy spends more than $600,000 annually on tree maintenance and Park officials have said it is impossible to ensure the safety of every tree in the park, New York Times reported.

“It is impossible to prevent this completely,” Henry J. Stern, a former city parks commissioner, told the Times.

Gianna’s death is just one of a string of accidents relating to falling tree branches in Central Park over the last year. In February, Elmaz Qyra of Brooklyn died when a snowy branch came down on him on the Literary Walk. The Central Park Conservatory is also in the midst of a $120 million lawsuit involving a rotted branch that fell on Google engineer Sasha Blair-Goldensohn, causing him brain and spinal damage last July.

Advocate groups think that the city should take more responsibility for park safety.

“This is crazy. We really have to be looking at this — it’s happening way too much,” Geoffrey Croft, president of NYC Park Advocates told the New York Daily News. “We cannot have the public getting killed in the park.”
