Behind the scenes of the “King” music video with artist Cortez feat T Top. The highly anticipated release of this music video is coming!.

Hip Hop Retreat Week was about bringing people that are aspiring as well as established together for the culture. Many media personalities, artists, producers, dj’s, hosts, industry professionals, and curators came together for the first annual hip hop retreat week in Brooklyn which lasted 5 days but had events before during and after for those who are like minded. I had the pleasure of being a panelist as well as a moderator during HHRW 2016, and i look forward to next year and all to come!

This is part one of the podcast panel, where we spoke about going beyond radio/podcasts, and about the latest tastemakers.

I had the pleasure of attending a performance and DJ set by legendary Talib Kweli at Center Stage not long ago, he performed after Cody Chestnutt and the live flautist. Jazz the beatman and Talib kweli put on quite a show despite some technical difficulties. Talib pumped out some of the best music and had the crowd hype, and made sure to perform in between. Here are the sneak peeks from that night. Full videos to be up soon on www.youtube.com/jackiedamodel make sure you subscribe!

America “You gon suck it or not”?

Posted: September 6, 2016 by JDM aka JACKIE SPEAKS in DRAMA, LIFE, MEDIA, MUSIC, NEW YORK, NEWS, PEOPLE, politics, Uncategorized, weirdnews

In the wake of NFL star Colin Kaepernick’s decision to remain seated during “The Star Spangled Banner” to protest racial injustice, there is renewed interest in the United States’ national anthem. Now, a hip-hop fan named Dero Anthony has come up with his or her own way of changing the conversation around our country’s official song. Anthony has started a petition to drop the two-century-old Francis Scott Key number and replace it with the Diplomats’ classic “Dipset Anthem.”

“The current National Anthem is BS,” reads Anthony’s plea. And…that’s it. No further explanation is given, nor is it required.

The petition has 974 signatures as of this writing, out of its stated goal of 10,000,000. <— This via Associated Press and COMPLEX mag

All this can lead us to wonder is, will America be chanting “You gon suck it or not”? .. If you have heard the Dipset Anthem it is pretty vulgar and comical. Would you want this to be America’s National Anthem? All jokes aside.-Jdm

While I am up on an opposite sleep schedule I want to take the time to say that I enjoyed working with, learning from, and teaching others in this industry since 2003/2005. So many levels to this. I made sure to invest in myself, my skill-set, and my craftsmanship and artistry my whole life. I only respect others who know the grind, and have shed blood sweat and tears for what they believe in. I don’t congratulate lazy or self proclaimed people, never fuel that mess!. I was injured about four years ago and underwent 3 surgeries and countless procedures. Prior to that, I had other health scares and issues that required surgery or medical care. I have always worked through everything, and gone above and beyond for others as well as my own passions. Never asking for anything in return. I believe in the culture of art, music, entertainment, and film. most importantly I believe in myself. I live every day as productively as possible, so when I have an opportunity I TAKE IT. When I was bed bound for a few years and in doctors 24/7 I had to make a decision. Do I let this conquer my life? Do I let depression and anger over situations I cannot control ruin everything I worked so hard for? NO. I chose to focus on better health, and managing my pain and obligations and begin re-creating my path again. Just because I haven’t been VISUALLY SEEN doesn’t mean that I ever stopped living for my dreams and those I love.

If you have ever had a time where you thought the world was crushing you, and you felt cornered or wanted to give up but didn’t…I want to hear from you. I want to begin having these conversations. I need to speak to the people who need to be uplifted, or can possibly enlighten and uplift others. I want to help you share your testimonial.

This is my testimonial, and this is the bare minimum of everything I went through and am still going through.

I love everyone who loves me, and I support you!. If you have a goal, it is best to make plans to achieve it. Don’t ignore what your heart is screaming for! – Jackie also known as Mivida JDM

JDM: I remember when I met and interviewed you and the group Corp Cartel. We had a lot of fun in that interview. The thing that stands out was that you are very hyper and very focused. We were having an awesome interview and at one point I said, “Do you have any shout outs”?. You shouted out your girlfriend first before anything. Jokingly I began the nickname of “the CUFF CARTEL” when the other members followed suit. I admire that because most men in these days don’t even give their woman a shoutout at all nonetheless acknowledge them publicly. Over the last few years, I have followed your career and your path. I am very happy to announce to your fan base that you married the love of your life and still balance your career. You are one of few artists that has managed to beat the stereotype.  To be a true gentleman and a true artist, takes respect and dedication. I commend you!.

I hope everyone enjoyed this Q&A and that they keep up with you!.

Sir Mic ‘I Can’t Help It’

 HatBW.jpg

Bournemouth based multi-genre rapper / lyricist Sir Mic returns with the release of his brand new single ‘I Can’t Help It’.

With four popular mixtapes (Mini Me Vol 1, 2 & 3 and Working Class Hero), a host of impressive support slots (including the likes of Tinie Tempah, So Solid Crew, DJ Cameo and DJ Semtex), and a vast feature discography under his belt, Sir Mic is well on his way to establishing himself as one of the finest rappers to come out of the south coast in a very long time.

Renowned for his distinct and diverse style, Sir Mic has the ability to work in a whole host of genres including hip hop, grime, dubstep and dance, and has even been approached for feature work by producers of the biggest dance compilation in the UK, Clubland Smashed, as well as the hotly tipped up and coming hip hop producer Stealf, who later asked the eclectic rapper to feature on his debut album alongside Jadakiss, Joell Ortiz, Ruste Juxx and many other US / UK heavyweights.

Sir Mic marked the beginning of 2011 with the release of his single ‘I Ain’t Going Anywhere’ (featuring Cynikal & Jasmine Knight), which went on to become a huge hit online with heavy press support and over 20,000 views on YouTube.

The south coast rapper now follows up his debut commercial release with an equally impressive effort titled ‘I Can’t Help It’. The piano driven, energetic instrumentation allows Sir Mic to tell an all too common tale of boozing on a weekend with effortless delivery, and the hands-in-the-air chorus line displays the rappers open mindedness when it comes to incorporating different musical tones in his music.

‘I Can’t Help It’ has the potential to become Sir Mic’s most successful release to date, because despite having enough lyrical substance to impress the purists, almost every British citizen between the ages of 18 and 30 can relate to the single’s subject matter. Accompanied by a brilliantly original video (shot in both first and third person in a host of rowdy Bournemouth clubs), ‘I Can’t Help It’ is sure to become another viral hit for Sir Mic, and mark another step on the ladder towards commercial acclaim.
