TESTIMONY OF A HUSTLER

While I am up on an opposite sleep schedule I want to take the time to say that I enjoyed working with, learning from, and teaching others in this industry since 2003/2005. So many levels to this. I made sure to invest in myself, my skill-set, and my craftsmanship and artistry my whole life. I only respect others who know the grind, and have shed blood sweat and tears for what they believe in. I don’t congratulate lazy or self proclaimed people, never fuel that mess!. I was injured about four years ago and underwent 3 surgeries and countless procedures. Prior to that, I had other health scares and issues that required surgery or medical care. I have always worked through everything, and gone above and beyond for others as well as my own passions. Never asking for anything in return. I believe in the culture of art, music, entertainment, and film. most importantly I believe in myself. I live every day as productively as possible, so when I have an opportunity I TAKE IT. When I was bed bound for a few years and in doctors 24/7 I had to make a decision. Do I let this conquer my life? Do I let depression and anger over situations I cannot control ruin everything I worked so hard for? NO. I chose to focus on better health, and managing my pain and obligations and begin re-creating my path again. Just because I haven’t been VISUALLY SEEN doesn’t mean that I ever stopped living for my dreams and those I love.

 

If you have ever had a time where you thought the world was crushing you, and you felt cornered or wanted to give up but didn’t…I want to hear from you. I want to begin having these conversations. I need to speak to the people who need to be uplifted, or can possibly enlighten and uplift others. I want to help you share your testimonial.

 

This is my testimonial, and this is the bare minimum of everything I went through and am still going through.

Jay Wise spits out lyrics like he is trying to get a bad taste out his mouth & won’t stop until the rhyme is over & the beat has gone silent. Then after the dust has settled, Jay Wise stands there with a grin on his face basking in the mayhem he just caused. This 28 year old Puerto Rican NYC born artist has his sights on the bigger & better things in life with future plans to launch an entertainment company. Jay Wise’s lyrical skills & vocal tone sets him apart from other artists. Hold a conversation with Jay Wise & you will soon realize that he posses all the grit, image, marketability & hunger needed to be successful in this game. Jay Wise’s favorite artists are Jay Z, Big Pun, Kayne,Chromeo, Bruno Mars & his group mates (Tana & Choas). He is influenced by the trendsetters of the world that stay true to their hearts & work hard everyday. Jay Wise says his solo project  “The Wake Up Call” will change the way people see music by bringing back the entertainment that is often missing in music.

Jay Wise is a 2008 New York Underground Music Award winner for Latin music. He has performed at over 80 clubs throughout NYC & in PR, St Barts and other places. Jay Wise has worked with well known Dj’s such as DJ’s such as The Heavy Hitter DJ Enuff (Hot 97). Power 105.1’s DJ’s Carl Blaze (R.I.P) & DJ Prostyle & DJ Camilo. The crowd mover L Boogs (Mr. MTV 3) DJ Green Lantern and DJ Kay Slay. He has worked with producers such as Rockwilder, Kane Beatz, Micheal “ Severn ” Summers, XV & Mighty Fuzz Young. And he has worked with clothing lines such as SABIT, LaVie, Live Mechanics, Gifted Elite, Kid Robot, Dirty Jaz, Benji Jeans, Brian Wood, Orisue, Religion, Rich Goldspun, Weirdo and many more.

HERE IS A Q&A TO BRING THE FANBASE THE 411 ON JAY WISE! Q: (JDM) A: (JW) 

Q: Who do you look up to in the industry? and if not industry ..as a person? Tell me about why you look up to them/admire them..or their work?

A: “I look up to moguls like Jay Z for his success in the music business. Tech N9ne  because he’s independent and sells records and tours with out having to change who he is. My mother because she’s so successful and raised 3 kids by herself . Also Kanye West for not being Afraid of pushing the envelope.”

Q: What inspires your work?

A:  “Life , and my surroundings.”

Q: Tell me something that no-one would guess about you when they meet you?

A: “I love the TV show the office”

Q: At what age did you first start taking your talent seriously and pursuing it?

A: “Maybe 18.”

Q: What is your personal favorite genre in music? (what do you have on your playlist!?)

A: “Hip Hop.”

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: “Sneakers ,basketball , football.”

Q: What are your current projects and goals ?

A: “I’m working on my Mixtape / album called ‘The Wake Up Call’. Goals to be a better man everyday, I want to keep making music I love for people who love good music.”

Q: If you had any advice to give an artist that is aspiring what would it be?

A: “Stay true to your self , you can’t please everyone , work on your craft , know even if you’re really good that you can get better.”

JDM: I remember when I met and interviewed you and the group Corp Cartel. We had a lot of fun in that interview. The thing that stands out was that you are very hyper and very focused. We were having an awesome interview and at one point I said, “Do you have any shout outs”?. You shouted out your girlfriend first before anything. Jokingly I began the nickname of “the CUFF CARTEL” when the other members followed suit. I admire that because most men in these days don’t even give their woman a shoutout at all nonetheless acknowledge them publicly. Over the last few years, I have followed your career and your path. I am very happy to announce to your fan base that you married the love of your life and still balance your career. You are one of few artists that has managed to beat the stereotype.  To be a true gentleman and a true artist, takes respect and dedication. I commend you!.

DYNASTY also known as the Prince of dancehall is a very talented artist originally from brooklyn, now residing in New Jersey. He is internationally known and still extremely humble. With the charm and appearance of a suave latino, he brings a Caribbean feel to the stage when he performs dancehall music. Our very own DYNASTY makes NY/NJ proud. We know him for having an amazing voice and a charismatic personality. It has been 3 years since our last interview chopping it up so I reached out to him for an update. Q: What is your current project?

A: “My current project is my second mixtape ‘it’s about time Volume 2’. I’m also working on a new album for 2014.”

A: “My current goal is to become the first and the biggest latin dancehall artist from New York to make it big”

A: “Konshens, he is a reggae artist”

A: “My best moment in 2013 was being with my grandmother for my birthday”

JACKIE SPEAKS DID YOU KNOW??

Did you know that The Jackie Speaks Radio Show originated in August 2010 at Urban Latino Radio one day a week and it is now on TWO DAYS a week thanks to our listeners locally, across the U.S., and Internationally? We  are quickly expanding and hope to have more air time soon, every week our ratings get higher and our listeners continue to demonstrate their appreciation and participate in our topics and social blurbs. Our guests continue to bring forth exclusive content Artist, DJ, and Business wise and it keeps getting BETTER!

Jackie Speaks aka Jackie da Model began what we can call an “internship” that turned in her favor at ULR in the summer of 2009 with a live mix show called The PreGame Show with DJ Abrupt, host- Mr. Light, and co host/artist Big Sence. After about 4 months she was offered a permanent co-host position with “La Esquina Radio Show” Hosted by Tony Delavora, music by DJ Super Star Boogie as well as the opportunity to blog for urban latino radio’s web site. Jackie continued to sharpen her media skills and strengthen her hosting game as time went on. In summer of 2010 La Esquina Radio Show’s host left on an endeavor outside of ULR. At this time Jackie Speaks (JDM) was offered a show of her own and a chance to grow even more as a Host/Personality/Blogger at the station. Jackie partnered up with the DJ from La Esquina Radio Show forming  dynamic duo “Jackie Speaks and DJ Super Star Boogie” on the “Jackie Speaks Radio Show”. This year many commitments and projects have stirred up a busy schedule for all at ULR. The Jackie Speaks Show has brought on a new male co-host GUESS WHO! Yes, an old colleague Mr. Light to join the show on a hosting and event level. The show anticipates a wider audience now that we will add a sports twist and some more “manly thoughts” as well as “Jackie who speaks 247!” which we are all familiar with (The unfiltered thoughts of a Geek turned model). We are bringing back the controversial GUY vs GIRL conversations that were HOT on the pre-game show and of course everyone is welcome to join the conversation when we are live!.

Jackie to this day has gotten the chance to interview many up and coming as well as established walks of talent thanks to all who helped her in the journey of radio. She will continue to climb the ladder of success as a Host and Model, never forgetting where she came from and where she is about to go!.

WHO IS DJ SUPER STAR BOOGIE?

“I go by the name of DJ Super Star Boogie I rep that 2m2h DJs, I’m an up and coming DJ From Brooklyn With A Dream Of Being Famous and I’m almost there” -DJ Super Star Boogie.

DJ Super Star Boogie aka the young phenom aka A DIOS MIO! who hails from Bushwick Brooklyn has been DJing since 14 years old. He started off with a team named “stop the madness” and then became part of DJ Crew “2m2h” DJs at 20 years old. He currently DJs NYC venues as well as private events delivering a unique mix that always gets the crowd hype.  His knowledge of music history and blends of old and new-school music are endless, and impressive.

He had an internet radio show called Boogie Nights for quite some time before joining “La Esquina” Radio show with Tony Delavora formerly of Urban Latino Radio via friend Rich of Corriente Latina. After working with Tony for some time he built more of his buzz with new listeners which in turn landed him a business relationship with Jackie da Model who was also part of the show. When production ended for “La Esquina” Super Star Boogie was offered a spot as the DJ for today’s popular internet radio show “The Jackie Speaks Show” which launched after “La Esquina” production ended, also of Urban Latino Radio. Jackie had a chance to start a new show and she felt that together they would be unstoppable! Together Jackie da Model and DJ Super Star Boogie became a dynamic duo and a force to be reckoned with, they deliver an energy packed mix show to a local and international fan base.
